Introduction to Clay - 3 Hours. $75 Includes all materials.
Have you always wanted to try out the pottery wheel or working with clay but not quite ready to sign up for an entire multi-week session? This 3 hour introductory class lets you try out working on the wheel or hand building with clay to see if it's for you. The one-on-one session will allow you to work at your own pace and ask all the questions you might have about working with clay!
You'll be able to choose which track you'd like to try, either hand building or wheel throwing, in this 3 hour session. Hand building will give you basics of making small clay items by hand and will show you the techniques and tools used to complete a clay project. Wheel throwing will let you try out the basics of throwing an item on the wheel, show you the techniques and tools used to finish a hand thrown item.
I have two size wheels to work on; a smaller tabletop wheel (Shimpo Aspire wheel) and a full size wheel (Bailey's Pro-X wheel) and you'll be able to work on either. The piece you make will be fired for pick up at a later time, about a week or two.

Introduction to China Painting. 3 Hours $75 Includes all materials.
China painting is the decoration of porcelain objects with an over glaze medium which allows for detailed and ornate artwork on pre-fired and pre-glazed porcelain items. China painting is an ancient technique, and painted porcelain represents some of the finest work in ceramic arts.
In this class, I introduce the student to the concepts of China painting, the materials used in creating painted porcelain, and techniques for applying, firing, and creating porcelain art. I also discuss decal art and the different methods for creating, applying, and firing custom decals. The student will create one or more pieces during the class time. The piece you make will be fired for pickup at a later time, usually a week or two later.

Individual Pysanky Class. 3 Hours $75 Includes all materials. Offered January through April
Pysanky is the traditional Ukrainian folk art of egg decorating. In this class, I will work one on one with you to teach you how to create pysanky, as well as the art, significance, and symbolism of pysanky. Beginners techniques as well as advanced techniques can be taught depending on student's interest.
The student will work on chicken eggs and will create one or more pysanky to take with them. |
Group Pysanky Class. 3 Hours $30 per student, includes all materials. Offered January through April
Pysanky is the traditional Ukrainian folk art of egg decorating. In this class, I will work with your group to teach you how to create pysanky, as well as the art, significance, and symbolism of pysanky. Groups of up to 6 students. Good for adults or children 12 and up.
The student will work on chicken eggs and will create one or more pysanky to take with them.
